Meaning
Every insight we earn in recovery becomes part of who we are. Over time, all those insights stack up into a kind of identity, and that identity starts to feel like home.
The trouble is, we stop examining it. We have become very good at seeing through others, and through our old selves, but the new self doing the seeing has slipped out of view.
Mirrorlee is the quiet realization that our wisdom has become a place we hide inside. The work of recovery taught us to look. It did not exempt us from being looked at.
Usage
I had a Mirrorlee moment when someone called me out, and I realized I’d stopped questioning the version of me that has all the answers now.
