Early Recovery
Early recovery describes the period when our lives begin to take shape again after the initial crossing. The days are no longer defined by crisis alone, but they are not yet steady. New routines appear before they feel natural, and much of life is approached one day at a time.
The experiences in this chapter often involve learning how to move through ordinary situations without the protections we once relied on. Emotions can be uneven, energy can fluctuate, and identity may feel uncertain. What matters here is not clarity or confidence, but showing up again and again while something unfamiliar slowly becomes familiar.
These terms name the effort and persistence of that period: the tiredness, the small moments of stability, and the realizations that come only through repetition. Early recovery is not an ending or a solution. It is the quiet work of remaining present while change takes hold, often without being noticed at the time.
