From vera (Latin: true) and cleft — a split or fissure. The moment truth-telling opens a crack in the self.
Meaning
We share something vulnerable and immediately wish we hadn’t. Not because anything went wrong. The room was safe, the response was kind — but the words felt too exposed the moment they left us.
Something in us contracts anyway, as if visibility itself was the threat. Veracleft is that internal recoil after openness, the flash of regret that follows honesty even when honesty was met with grace.
We named the truth. Now part of us wants to take it back.
