Hestivar

HESS-tih-var

Origins

From Hestia, Greek goddess of the hearth and home fire, blended with hiver, French for winter.

Meaning

We keep the hearth lit before the winter comes.

We build self-care while things are still manageable, so our nervous system has somewhere to stand when triggers hit. We notice it in ordinary choices that stack up, sleep, food, movement, prayer, reaching out, stepping away from spirals early. When the hard day arrives, the tools are already familiar.

We reach for what we practiced.

Usage

I’m trying to stay in Hestivar this week, earlier bedtimes, real meals, and calling someone before I drift.
