Origins
Drawn from literary and mythic motifs of false or premature illumination – the sudden light that promises clarity before depth or readiness – combined with speed as a symbol of desire rather than true movement. The root points to brightness arriving faster than trust or repair can form.
Meaning
Early in recovery, a bright urgency takes hold. We want sobriety to show, trust to return, and our effort to be recognized immediately, as if willingness alone could compress time. Fastlight names the restless glow of expecting insight, repair, and reward to arrive all at once, before patience and consistency have had time to do their quieter work.
Usage
I was doing everything right and still felt resentful waiting for people to trust me again – that was Fastlight.
